Original honduras flag
The national flag of Honduras has three horizontal bands: blue, white, and blue. Five blue stars arranged in an X appear in the white band. The current design reflects the country’s flag tradition and Central American history.
How it works
The blue bands are commonly associated with the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, while white is associated with peace and prosperity. The five stars are often explained as representing the five former Central American states and the hope of their union.

Example or application
The flag is based on the colors used in the former Federal Republic of Central America. Honduras adopted its current five-star arrangement in the twentieth century.
Scope and limits
Descriptions of symbolic meaning can vary by official or educational source. The current flag design should be distinguished from historical versions.
